Studying in the UK can open up a whole new world of opportunities. One of the key things about studying in the UK is the links to industry placements helping students gain insight into the real world. Work experience not only hugely helps the student learn about real world work but also it looks great on a CV. Many employers want work experience as well as qualifications and the best way to do this is by doing a placement year.
Sometimes called sandwich courses or work experience, placements give students the chance to work in a real-life setting. The University of Huddersfield offer work placement options on almost all undergraduate courses and six month work placement options for some postgraduate courses at the end of their one-year course.
Undergraduate work placements usually last for between 10 and 12 months and most of them are paid a good salary.
The University of Huddersfield has connections with some of the biggest companies in the world. Their international students have recently completed placements at Disney, Siemens, Price Waterhouse Coopers, BBC, Puma, Manchester United, Airbus, Red Bull F1 and many more large global names. There are also lots of opportunities to stay local to Huddersfield as many of the local businesses work with the University.
These include Cummins, Sygenta, Huddersfield Town Football Club, Huddersfield Giants Rugby League and many more. If you do want to work overseas, the University Placements Team will work with you to try and ensure you secure an international placement.
