My name is Venus, and I am from Thailand. Pursuing my Master’s in Marketing Communication at UWE Bristol was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. In 2023, I graduated with more than just a degree〞I gained practical skills, confidence, and a global perspective that prepared me for the real world. Today, I’m working as a Senior Account Executive at OQB, and I can confidently say that my time at UWE played a crucial role in shaping my career.
The education system at UWE Bristol was a refreshing change from what I was used to in Thailand. Back home, learning focused heavily on lectures, memorisation, and exams. At UWE, however, interactive learning took centre stage. Classes involved group discussions, case studies, and real-world applications, making learning far more engaging and practical.
One of my most memorable tutors, Sean, truly changed the way I think about marketing. He didn’t just ask us to memorise theories〞he challenged us to apply them to real-world situations. This hands-on approach helped me develop problem-solving skills that I now use daily in my job.
Adapting to a new country was both exciting and challenging. The cultural and language barriers were real, but UWE’s support system made the transition smoother. The tutors were approachable and personalised their guidance to fit students from different backgrounds. Unlike in Thailand, where lecturers can seem distant, at UWE, we could simply say, “Hi, Sean!” instead of using formal titles.
Beyond academics, UWE provided resources even before I arrived in the UK, helping with information on courses, university life, and transportation. Once there, I found tools for research, coursework, and student life that made my experience even better.
The hands-on learning at UWE has had a direct impact on my job today. The ability to connect marketing theories with real-world applications makes me more confident in my work as a Senior Account Executive. Instead of just following textbook strategies, I now adapt and apply them to actual business situations.
If you’re considering studying at UWE Bristol, my advice is simple: Go for it! The university offers an incredible learning experience, supportive tutors, and an environment that helps you grow both professionally and personally.
You’ll meet amazing people from around the world, gain valuable skills, and enjoy a vibrant university experience. And one last tip〞wake up early because the bus ride from the city centre to the university takes about 15 minutes!
